It had been going on a year since the cultivation world suffered it's last upheaval with the death of the Chief Cultivator and Lan Xichen's decision to retreat into seclusion. For those who knew, the story was much darker but the whole story itself was limited to those who'd been there.
Who'd seen the entire event. Still life went on and the next discussion conference was slated to be held at Cloud Recesses, which meant both Sect Leader Jiang and Jin Ling would be attending, even if he wasn't ready to fill the role of leading his own sect. It was training, from what Sizhui had gathered.
Still once the formalities were handled and the meetings were over, there was time for them to see each other, and slipping into Jin Ling's room was easy enough.
Jin Ling's a paranoid boy, and he has his sword out and aimed at the door the moment it opens without the familiar footsteps of his uncle. He relaxes the moment he sees Sizhui, even grinning a little at the sight of his friend. Sheathing his sword again, he strides forward to meet him. "Sizhui!"
Even though time has passed and Jin Ling has become less prickly toward everyone, he still hesitates over physical contact, so he stops in front of Sizhui, unsure if he should hug.
"You know people can't actually come into Cloud Recesses without invitation, right? Much less find the guest quarters." Not that he doesn't understand why Jin Ling would be paranoid but he's safe here.
"It's been a while, A-Ling." Although he only uses this in private.
"A-Yuan," Jin Ling replies, with a little smirk, because he's always happy to see Sizhui. "How do I know the Lan Sect isn't planning some kind of Jin coup?" He's teasing, but he gives Sizhui a nudge, then picks up his qiankun pouch and opens it, drawing out a couple of jars of liquor. "Brought you something."
It always has him pausing for a moment when Jin Ling uses his name like that, his eyes lingering on the other teenager for a moment before it drops to the jars.
"I know you're not supposed to drink," Jin Ling agrees. He sets the jars down on the table and sits on one of the cushions, pouring wine into tea cups and pushing one in Sizhui's direction. "I'm not going to tell on you."
